About Me

I’m still relatively new at teaching: I graduated from NC State in 2004 with a degree in mathematics, served in the Peace Corps as a Community Health Volunteer in rural Peru for 27 months, and then went to Duke University to get my Masters of Arts in Teaching. I did my teaching internship and my first two years of teaching in Durham, but then moved to the Triad recently and am now teaching at UNCSA. A residential high school within the University of North Carolina School of the Arts for gifted young artists.

I’ve been following the Math Twitter Blog-o-Sphere for the past few years and have been grateful for the wealth of information I have stolen borrowed from my Tweets on Twitter: handouts, 3 Act Lessons, video tutorials, Standards Based Grading how-to articles, lesson inspiration. I’ve absorbed so much information that I felt it was time to start participating in the conversation.
